Celebrity Behavior: Good gone Bad
Why are people more interested in celebrities bad behavior than good behavior? It is
interesting that celebrities bad behavior gets more attention than news about politics and news
about what is going on with our country and government.  Celebrities bad behavior is covered
more in news stories than positive behavior because it is more exciting, people make money out
of it, and good behavior is expected.
First, bad behavior is exciting because people like seeing famous people mess up and
make mistakes. When Lindsay Lohan breaks the law, all the attention is on her, but when she
helps a charity, no one seems to care about it. According to Mania Beyond Entertainment, " A
women claimed Lohan had stolen her clothing from her home while she was away ",even a little
action like this made all the attention go to Lohan (2007). Even though Lohan tried to clear her
name, people still bothered her on her actions.
Secondly, the people who actually put up the bad behavior in magazines or news stories,
they are the ones who are making money out of it. When famous people make mistakes, and
TMZ puts it up for people to see, they are the ones making money for all the attention it gets. In
2011 TMZ stated, "Drew Barimore  caused a stir with her neighbors last night when her loud
Halloween party forced them to call the cops  and complain." This article made TMZ lots of
money.
Finally, people tend to expect good behavior from famous people, so that is why
whenever they behave bad, it interest people a lot. Because people tend to expect good behavior
from famous people, whenever they behave bad, everybody wants to know about it. T.I is a very
famous and well-known artist so when "Rapper T.I was arrested in September 2010 during a
traffic stop in Los Angeles and was charged with felony drug possession" (OTRC 2010).
Because he was well--known, this spread rapidly around .
The reasons that celebrities bad behavior is covered more is because it's exciting, it
makes people money and because good behavior is expected. It is exciting because people like
watching famous people mess up and make mistakes. The people who actually put up the bad
behavior for people to see, they are the ones making money. Because good behavior is expected,
when celebrities misbehave it interests people a lot.

Evaluate

My rating of myself on a scale of 1-6.

Investigate: I would give myself a 5 because I did find out a lot of things. Those things were very useful, but I know that I could of done it better.

Design:For design I would give myself a 6 because I designed 3 designs. I designed  3 very different designs, and from those 3 I had to use one; I chose the one that I thought was the best for me.

Plan:I would give myself a 5 because I did plan things, but they could of been way better. I did take my time, but I knew that I could push myself harder.

Evaluate:For evaluate I would give myself a 6 because I did go over my product and found many mistakes. When I found those mistakes, I didn't change them instead I just recorded them.

Plan Questions

1. What idea did you choose to demonstrate the design cycle and why did you choose it? I chose to do the Microsoft Power point because it was much easier and faster to do my project on.
2. Does your idea meet all of the requirements? Yes, my power point did meet all of the teachers and all of my requirements.
3. How many slides does your product have? In my product their will 6 slides. Two slides will be the title and the the ending. The other 4 will be the one with the actual information.
4. Explain how you will use your time to get your project finished in 12 days. I tend to always wait until the last minute because I feel pressured and I do my work faster. I will do my project like when there is like 3 or 4 days left; pressuring me helps me do my work faster, and I actually do put time so that it will look nice.

Investigation Questions

1. How can my learning serve my community? My learning can help my community by being able to do more and better efficient things.

2. How can your future projects become better? By looking back on my mistakes and fixing those mistakes.

3. What have you learned about yourself and what you will continue to do or not do and why? I learned that I can do things really good only if I am pressured. When ever I have a long time to do it, I tend to wait until the last minute. One thing that I will keep doing is waiting until the last minute.

4. How do you feel about your final product? I am proud of my final product because I took time to do it right.
What would you rate yourself on the Rubric scale of 1-6 for each       part of the Assessment Criterion? I would rate myself a 5 because its not perfect, but it is also good.

5. What would you do differently in regards to your planning and execution of your plan? I don't think that there is anything that I would do anything different because I am proud of what I did and I don't think I did any mistakes.

Create

Today I finished my survey, but I haven't tested it. I'm finishing up my power point, all I need it to just add pictures to the slides.  When I finish my power point, I plan to test it on 3 6th graders.  When the 6th graders are done with the survey, I am going to record the scores they get.

Survey for 6th graders

1. What is the design cycle?

2. What is the third stage of the design cycle?

3. What stage do you find the problem?

4. What do you do in evaluate?

5. What are the four stages of the design cycle?

6. What is the second stage of the design cycle?

7. What do you do in the second stage?

8. In what stage do you find the solution?

9. What have you learned from the design cycle?

10. On a scale of  1-5 how good was my power point about the design cycle?

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

My Progress

So far I have already put all my information on all the slides. All that is just left for me to do is to put the pictures of each step. I will also try to put more information on the slides so that the 6th graders can really understand it.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Plan: Gant Chart

My total project will take 123 minutes, which is 2 hours and 3 minutes.

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Design Brief

10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it. Im going to make a Microsoft Power point for the 6th graders. Im making this because the 6th graders need to know exactly what the Design Cycle is.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
  • has to be quick and easy
  • has to also be neat
  • 6th graders have to understand it
  • has to be less than than 3 or 2 minutes
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment?  My limitation is to have my slide show be 2-3 minutes long.
13. How will you "test" your project? I will test it by giving the 6th graders 3 different surveys/ tests, and see if they pass them.

Investigation Reflection

I would say that I would be at a 5 because I already compared the two choices, I already chose one but, I haven't done the actual project using Microsoft Power point. I compared Google Sites and Microsoft Power point, because I planned to do a slide show for the Design Cycle project. When I compared both of them, it showed me which one was much easier and faster to do. I chose Microsoft Power point, I already know how to use it and what each symbol stands for. All that is left for me to do is to just do the actual slide show using Microsoft Power point.

Design

I ended up choosing Sample 1, because I felt it was it most organized and neat way to do it. The other samples were good but, they were a little disorganized for me. I like to put the title first, then the information, and at the end, the picture. All, three samples were good, but Sample 1 was the one that standed out the most.

Day 3 Comparison

Google Sites
Measurements
Score (1-5)
Simplicity
  4
Fonts
  5
Music
  0

In simplicity, for Google sites I gave it a 4. I gave it a 4 because it wasn't that hard to do, but there were some flaws to it. I thought that it would of taken me longer because I had never used Google Sites before, but it turned out to be much easier as I thought it would be. Overall  for simplicity, it was not that hard of a challenge to do.

In fonts, for Google Sites, I gave it a 5. I gave it a 5 because in Google Sites you can have any type of fonts you want. At first I thought that it would only be one type of font, but it turned out that you have many choices! Having choices for fonts is very important because you do need different sizes for the titles, then the actual texts as well as many other things. Overall for fonts, it was a very fast and easy thing to do for a slide show.

For music in Google Sites I gave it a 0. I gave it a 0  because in Google Sites, you can have music but I think that it wouldn't be as much as a help as it should be. It can be a very fun thing to do, but it will only distract the people who are listening to your presentation. Overall I gave music a 0 because if you use it will not help you, instead it will backfire on you.

  Microsoft Power point
Measurements
Score (1-5)
Simplicity
  5
Fonts
  5
Music
  0

In simplicity for Microsoft Power point, I gave it a 5. I gave it a 5 because it was real fast and easy to do. At first when I looked at it, it looked complicated, but then when I started doing it it became real easy. Overall for simplicity, it was a real fast and much easier way to do a power point/slide show.

In fonts for Microsoft Power point, I gave it a 5. I gave it a 5 because Microsoft Word also allows you to have different fonts and has many choices of fonts for power points. It is a very good thing that Microsoft Power point has different choices of fonts to enlarge any kind of titles, or other texts. Overall for fonts, it was a real fast, easy and useful way to create a slide show/power point.

In music, I gave it a 0. I gave it a 0 because having music will distract the people you are teaching. Microsoft power point can have music added, but it will just backfire on you. Overall for music, I gave it a 0  because it will not help you, instead it will make the people you are teaching get distracted real easily.

Day 2 Investigation Reflection

So far my idea is to create a slide show. The two tools I want to compare are Microsoft powerpoint and Google sites. I haven't compared the two,but I plan to in the future. I went to Mrs. Hinojosa's blog and clicked on video tools, which took me to Google Sites. I clicked on it and it showed me how to use and create a slide show and how I can insert pictures in and many designs. I took kind of a tutorial and it helped me understand exactly how to use it. And you can use any where you go without saving it in a pen drive. The other link that I clicked to compare was Microsoft power point. In this link, I can create a power point with pictures. The only catch is that if I'm going to work on it, Im going to have to carry it with me on a pen drive. These two are some what a like, but one has more of an advantage of the other.
I decided to use Microsoft power point because it was much faster and easier to use for this kind of project. Yes, I have to carry it in a pen drive, but I believe its better this way than using it on different computers. Whenever I'm using it, I might forget to exit it out, and someone could get in and erase the data I have. On Google sites, the students could get distracted by the designs the slide has, instead of paying attention to the actual information.
Area of Interaction: Community and Service , Approaches to Learning & Human Ingenuity
Significant Concept: Design Cycle can be used to solve problems
Unit Question: How can my learning help my community? How do I make Sound Choices?
INVESTIGATE: (Write in complete sentences) Identify the Problem
1. What is the problem you need to solve? Explain to a 6th grader what the design cycle is all about by creating a presentation. (3d, PPT, movie, game, Poster)
2. How does the Design Cycle apply to the real world? This cycle applies to the world by helping us plan and create anything from projects (of work,business..etc),to building actual buildings.
3. How will this project serve my community? It will serve my community by helping me do and solve more things around and about my community, and help each other out when we need it.
4. How can my learning help my community? My learning can help my community by being able to do more and better efficient things.
5. How do we live in relation to each other? We live in relation to each other by helping each other out when we need it, and ask each other questions when we don't understand something.
6. How does this help others? This helps others by having things more organized and doing things more faster.
7. What are the requirements for this assignment? The requirements for this assignment is to do something-power point,movie..etc, that will HELP a 6th grader know what the design cycle is. It must be filled with knowledgeable things, and must be helpful.
8. What is the Design Cycle? The Design Cycle is the problem solving method and is used to help people (students) to create and evaluate solutions for problems/challenges.
REFLECT on your learning.
Day 2
9. Spend one day experimenting with DESIGN CYCLE your presentation. List five things your learned about the Design Cycle:
Day 3
Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment?
